Marble Elk and Klickitat Deer...

[The Overfishin Condition]

Well, I spent all of last week either in the marble unit trying to fill our muzzleloading cow tag, or at school. We went 5-7 days without seeing elk, both days we saw them we spotted them from the car, and the second day we put the sneak on. We missed 'em by yards, and we missed 'em by inches. But the jist of it was, for a unit supposed to be filled with elk, we just didn't see many! On Friday before the season started I saw a herd of a half dozen, including one dandy bull, but in the wrong unit! I took a picture and continued my grouse hunting.
Today I continued my search for my first big game animal with the modern deer opener. I like hunting in Klickitat, because despite limited success within my hunting parties (since we lost access to private land when the property was sold) I like the oppurtunity to see lots of deer. However, the last couple years, we've barely seen any animals. Has anyone found any dynamite public spots? I obviously don't expect them to be revealed, but nothing has compared to the land we had access to before where we'd see 30-40 deer a day, now we're lucky to see a half dozen! Anyway, the search continues! We did spy three turkeys.

TOC, i was in the ryderwood unit for sat and sun last week, no elk or deer. When we were scouting loads of deer and elk but none last week. Moved to **** ***** on monday 0 elk seen probably over 100 deer in 5 days, no shots unit was closed to ML deer. Some very big bucks. Passed on a big fork on friday, in a different unit. I found some nice public land and lots of deer PM me and i will let you know where. Didn't see a whole lot of people either.
