In 1988 I took an underwater archaeology class. One of the sites we dove was on the Columbia River at Warrendale, near the Fishery. I learned that Warrendale was named for Frank Warren, a wealthy Portland businessman who owned a salmon cannery at what is now known as Warrendale. I believe a fishwheel was part of Mr. Warren’s cannery. The Warren salmon cannery made so much money for Mr. Warren that he was able to afford first class tickets for himself and his wife Anna on the maiden voyage of the Titanic! Frank went down with the Titanic, but his wife survived to return to Portland.
You can see a photo of Frank Warren and read a brief biography of him here:

A couple of years ago I found a Titanic web site with much more extensive information on the Warrens. That site had original Oregonian newspaper articles and interviews from Mrs. Warren, who described the ordeal for reporters. I tried but cannot find that web site now.
Everytime I launch my boat at the Fishery and fish near Warrendale, I am reminded of the connection to the Titanic.
