Idiots on the Siletz (Vent)
Well to make a slow fishing day worse, a couple of my buddies and I were bobber fishing the Siletz tidewater for some fall nooks. We were fishing the outgoing tide along the banks. Some fishing reject comes by with a pellet gun and starts shooting at our bobbers as he motors by. He thought that it was pretty funny, as did his other two "rejects" who were in the boat with him. Ended up saying a couple of choice words his way and reeled in and went home. I just don't understand how some people can be so blatantly stupid sometimes. I'm still ticked off over this and I know that it shouldn't have ruined my day, but it did.

myself being as evenly tempered as I am might have found the largest rock I could throw that distance and "return fire"
PAt yourself on the back for not making a bad situation worse, and next time carry a paintball gun or wrist rocket. Non lethal deturance...:-)

Re: Idiots on the Siletz (Vent)
Sounds like you should of put on a very large treble hook and snagged one of them in the neck and jerked them off their boat. Then drag them to the shore and proceed to beat some sense into them. If you have a good stiff rod and some tuf line, you could of got him to shore, and used you fish whacker on him.

Fishing as great as it is does attract some winners.
I heard stories from a friend that fished coast streams the past week and had some encounters that would make me Sell my gear.
Too bad. You have my sympathy.
BB guns at the Bobbers. Idiots.

Re: Idiots on the Siletz (Vent)
Now I have heard of some stupid things but this takes the cake. It is a very good thing it wasn't done to me because I don't think my patience level would have stayed very low. I have a told a couple idiots before that they might be getting 12 oz of lead coming their way if they don't cool it and in this case I think they might have had it coming to them. It is amazing 99% of the people are great to fish with and the 1% of people that can't seem to figure it out ruin it for others. What about the Children that see that type of crap? What about first timers who just want to enjoy the experience? Good job staying cool headed!

Re: Idiots on the Siletz (Vent)
WOW, that is crazy! Get the hull numbers and call them in! Meat wagons like that don't deserve to be on the river! kudo's to you for not waiting for them at the boat ramp...thats the direction I would have been tempted to go.
I second the karma vote...

Re: Idiots on the Siletz (Vent)
Wow what a shocker! I truly did not think we had people like that, that we share our rivers with. I feel that there is no difference between a bb gun and a high powered rifle. You never shot at something with a human on the other side. Please, I hope you report these low-lifes to OSP . Jerome

Re: Idiots on the Siletz (Vent)
If you got the numbers, they need to be reported, before they hurt someone. The shallow end of the gene pool manifests itself, once again.
