Re: Mt. Hood Bucks
I've killed some good bucks in the MtHood National Forest. But most have been in the late archery season. My favorite method has been rattling during the rut. I did rattle in a 140" buck on Oct 28 and get him during rifle season, but that was in the Clackamas drainage.
They start leaving the high country in a couple weeks, heading for the rutting grounds and winter range. Alot of the deer in the MtHood area proper head down White River for the winter.
I used to hunt around MtHood Meadows opening weekend of archery season. There's some toad's that summer up around timberline. But it's getting too thick with hiker's, treehugger's, and bunnyhugger's, so I quit hunting up there.
