Default Is it worth going 2nd time to Eastern Oregon?

Just got back from a fun weekend hunting with my son using his youth/1st time buck tag out in Ukiah. Saw lots of deer, a few small bucks, no opportunities to really bag one. Is it generally worthwhile going out a 2nd weekend? We would do it just for the fun, but would hope that the deer wouldn't be beaten into total hiding. I guess I'm interested in hearing from people who either hunt through the whole 2nd weekend or that go out for two weekends. Also, how many hunters are there on the 2nd weekend compared to opening weekend, on average?

Thanks,
Biederboat

Go the second weekend, take your son. How many more chances will you get while his still young. Weather the hunting is good or not isn't the important part being together is.
My son and I (he's 30 now) went scouting for Elk this weekend. That was one of the best weekends I've had in a long time. Quality time with your kids is the best!

In lot of cases things can get better as the season goes on. Shorter days, more chance for precipitation, the casual hunters go home, closer to the rut, some years you get a better moon phase.....

Its like fishing, you dont get anything if your not out there.

Last year, our party hunted 10 days straight in eastern oregon. Didnt bag a deer until day 6, 2 day 7, none on 8 and 9, last one on day 10. The only guy in our party that didnt tag out had a chance on day 9.

If you can go hunting, then go. Why is it such a hard choice? Does he really like hunting? If my son wanted to go (he's only 10 now) I would be there right now. If the kid is game then the choice is obvious.

Have fun and good luck!!!

The seasons are so short and the enjoyment of being on the hunt so great, passing up the opportunity is not an option for me.

How many years will you get to go out hunting with your son before other things in life get in the way?

QUIT THINKING about it and GO the seconed weekend. The time you spend with your Son is priceless, I have 2 girls ,both married now ,they were still in diapers when the wife and I took them with us, when they got old enough to hunt I bought a rifle for them and have many , many GOOD MEMERIES of being out hunting with them and it didn't matter if we killed any thing or not. They remind me of things that happened or they seen that I don't rember. If you don't take him someone should kick your butt
