I did. Had a good time as usual. Hunted close to the junction of North Fork Wolf Creek Rd. and Mcgregor Rd off Hyw 26 near the water fountians just east of the rest stop.

Saturday AM - meet the state trooper and missed sun-up because we didn't see the signs
By the time we got back it was still too foggy so we really didn't miss anything. Several Does snuck out the bottom of the clear cut on us in the fog - boy was that frustrating to listen to - other hunter saw them.

Sunday AM - same place - deer were bedded near the road to the landing, they made it down on finger ridge to the flats below by sunup. I almost caught up with them before the made it to the timber at the bottom again - Same SPOT

Hay, I'll figure the hole out yet. Heard a few shots - saw lots of road hunters - saw lots of State Troopers.

I drove my trailer over to Summer Lake and passed all kinds of deer hunters. Didnt see hardly anything hanging. I know of 3-4 bucks that got shot off the Summer Lake refuge, all small. The guys I talked to werent seeing much at all.

Went black tail hunting saturday afternoon but it turned into helping my brother and his girlfriends dad pack out a buck. They saw 9 deer, 4 bucks (one nice 4 point that slipped away into the brush as they were putting a stalk on) and so they settled on a decent forked horn buck.

My son and I went scouting elk at Maury this weekend. Pickings looked a little lean. Of the 30 or 40 camps we went by we saw only two bucks hanging. Also talked to the ODFW guy while we were there, same report from him. Maybe with the freezing level coming down this week things could improve.

75 degrees and sunnmy, with evening thundershowers was the weather at 7000 feet in the Trout Creek Mountains.
Decided to come home for a few days and head back up Friday when the cold front hits.
Deer were moving early, but became much harder to find after 7:30 or so. Areas that were productive last year had no deer at all, so am forced to search for new areas for my buddy who was lucky enough to draw this great tag.
Had a 26-27" buck at 400 yards when his bodyguard came and stood between us and him for a good 5 minutes. We waited, and waited, and waited, until they finally bolted when a coyote popped up. I did not encourage him to take a running shot at 400+ yards.
The weather will make all the difference--get back out there folks and HARVEST the bounty of the wildlands!!!

Just got back from keating unit, it was HOT!!. The temp was in the low 80's. We couldn't move without making a noise. We got one opening morning, a nice 3x2. We jumped several does and a couple bucks that we're too far away. All in all it was a great time with some good friends.

I got a small buck in the Baker City area. It was really HOT!! On the opening day it was still 70 degrees at 8:30 PM. I never heard a shot on the opening day. We only saw 3 deer. I got the buck on Monday morning. We hunted lower, and saw more animals.

Well it figures, my dad had a Heppner unit tag and we were supposed to join a group that lives there for the weekend hunt. Unfortunately some idiot put gas in my diesel truck and it was in the shop until friday night. So the hunt was bagged. In the end 8 people shot 32 times in three days and bagged only 3 bucks!! My buddy was just sick on a couple of bucks his brother and dad missed. One of which they missed 6 times and ran over the hill and another party shot it. Turned out to have 8 on one side and unknown amount of sticker points on the other measuring out around 33" wide. To say the least my buddy was none too happy about his bro's shooting ability on that one. But so far one 4 pt, and two 3 pts. were bagged. They're still hunting so I'll have a report of how many when the season ends.

I have a lot of thanks to that gas attendant now.
