Well, The day before Bow season I was very confident, I had taken 13 bulls in 13 years and I had everything scoped out and knew it would be another great year, Got camp set up the night before and could not sleep at all because the Deer were in my camp and were stepping on my tent!! Know kidding one even was smelling the tent. Opening morning finally came and I let right out of camp and 25 min later I had a 5x5 bull at 15 yards quartering away and feeding. I slowly pulled my mathews feathermax back and ( CRACK) my bottom limb cracked and my hunt was over. back to portland I go.
You gotta be kiddin' me. I really feel sorry for you....I know what it is like. I had a 6x6 in the High Cascade Unit in my crosshairs for 10 seconds and didn't pull off a shot. There was a little bit of brush in front of the Bull's lung area and he was heading for a clearing. I got a good look at him when he dropped his head and started feeding. Long brow tines all ivory tipped. High rack that went well back over his rump. I was waiting for him to come out in the clearing....he never did. There were clearings on both sides. He was about 65 yards. A thin line of brush ran away from me...you guessed it. He slipped into that brush and the next thing that I knew he was at 120 yards just topping a ridge...he had another rag bull with him that I never saw. I think that if I would have pulled off the 180 grain bullet would have cut through that brush and dropped him right there....Oh well, he will be there next year for one of us to take.
