Wow... ******** meth addicts or just plain theifs... if one ever crosses my path he better watch out... no joke

My dad was in his office for 30 mins, he comes out and his window is smashed in! OUTSIDE his ******** office! These guys are getting more gutsy and gutsy! He had his briefcase in the trunk, it got jacked... along with our tennis rackets, a 500 dollar camera, and a ******** very expensive gps. oh and my radar detector! I HATE THEIFS. Sorry i just wanted to rant. I would recomend locking your glove box from now on. The crack heads jacked all the stuff from the glove box and trunk. There was NOTHING in plain sight!! Well thats my rant. Lock your stuff up and dont leave anything in you car while your in the office.

SALEM, OREGON is the WORST!!! When I lived there, my vehicles were broken into regularly. I even chased them in my undies when I heard the glass breaking outside my window in the early a.m. (no comments on my tighty-whities please) :blush:

I feel your pain. :depressed:

I moved outta there! No other solution, IMO. Bad place, desperate, poor, drug afflicted people. Very sad. Not enough police for the job. And Salem, OR has the highest rate of car thefts also. Very sad, indeed.

We just had our 4-runner stolen out of our driveway. We posted in the Lost/stolen forum. We are in ALBANY and found it in Lebanon.

I grew up in Salem, lived there for like 25 years......saw it get worse and worse as far as crime. I decided to move when one morning leaving the house I found the Salem SWAT team in camo sneaking down my driveway to get a jump on my druggie neighbor

a friend of mine just had her car stolen in eugene..found it stripped of amlost everything. :depressed:

One point on not leaving stuff in your car...I would recommend if you carry a gun, get a lock box and bolt that puppy under your seat. The last thing you want on your mind is the fact that the bad guy might go shoot somone with your gun

Unless your glove box is iron-clad I doubt that it'll stop a thief and a big screwdriver. If you like it, don't leave it in the car. If you like the car, alarm it WELL. And Lo Jack it.

I have to agree with you about the Salem area crime. Keizer is absolutely horrible. I ended up moving back to the Aloha area
and I have the same problems here. The drug scene in the Salem area is absolutely out of control..Albany is a mess too. Drive anytime..day or night...thru Albany, Keizer, or Salem...you will see walking/bicycle riding meth head zombies everywhere. I double dog dare anyone to spend a day in the park below the Marion St. Bridge in downtown Salem...plain scary.

Man, I'm sorry to hear it, but not surprised. I just heard a statistic that 85% of all property/auto crimes in Oregon are meth related. It is a sick drug that turns people evil. After having my car broken into and all my flyfishing gear stolen (as well as the cd player ripped out and the cds taken), I don't leave anything in the truck that I couldn't part with.

Now that you mention it, I recall that all of the stuff that has been stolen from me, was when I lived in Salem. I thought it was a rotten town when I moved there when I was ten years old. I'll never go back.

We need to build more prisons and change the trend.

I think it's a bit humorous when I read this stuff.
Don't get me wrong, I got ripped off last year.

But how many times have voter shot down the chance to add money to our Police and fire ? We need to put pressure on our elected officials to do the right thing.

I hate thieves too and God help them if I catch one.

I just went out and bought some super bright halogen outdoor lights for outside.... Figure that maybe they will avoid my house... got 2 big dogs, a box of shotgun shells in each window sill, and a bright streetlight outside, not to mention my 3 halogens now.

We used to have a neighborhood watch sign mounted on a lightpole across the street, but some turd stole it!

I put the halogen motion lights near my garage door....three times car prowlers have simply unscrewed them. I will now need to mount them on the roof out of reach.

yup the thieves in salem suck!!! i lived there last year and got hit three times in six months first two times they stole a dimond plate tool box out of one of my trucks. the last time they took all my work tools out of my work truck and all stereo equipment and my new 1500 dodge with 10000 miles on it. Motion lights on the garage were covered with my own ball caps out of first truck broke into. The dog never even barked no broken glass and when the dodge was recovered no damage to the key hole or ignition. both trucks had factory alarms which were set. all the cop told i moved into a hot zone which i was not aware of. Now I live in jefferson which is not a whole lot better but we have got three dogs and locked gates.

you know, My truck got ripped off a few days before christmas. same thing, no busted glass, no drillings, Cops didn't even come out. they said that someone got the vin number and ordered a key from Ford for that vin... costs like 100 bucks. off they drove, never got it back... now i cover my vin numbers too

FishTech101 has the right idea. By God an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth. Public hangings at 5 p.m. at the local county court house will help straighten things out. It is about time the tide turns towards those of us who can abide by the laws of the land.

We should legalize it and institutionally administer the drug. Once admitted into the program you don't get out. Cured or dead those are the options.

Think of all the pressure that would be lifted off the shoulders of our law enforcement, and courts. Think of all the crime that wouldn't be committed to get drugs. The insurance claims that wouldn't have to be filed. The premiums that would not be sky rocketing.

It's time to think outside of the box.

Well unfortunately I now know how everyone who responded to this thread was really feeling. Some a-hole got into my 4 runner last night and took some things that are not replaceable. My wife left her scrap booking stuff in the back and forgot to lock it up after carrying our two sleeping kids in to the house last night, what a bummer. They took a cannon eos camera, which I could care less about and they also took over 500 pictures of some of the kids activities and our vacation to canada this summer and a bunch of scrapping stuff that will be of no use to them or bring any street value. What an empty feeling. Almost everyone of our neighbors got it too as I found out today.
