Default My Biggest Hawg Yet! (pic)

Made a couple passes on my lunch break, and got into a big one!

This 35 foot long chinook is named Claudia, and my girlfriend towed her up from Salem for the annual SALMON FESTIVAL AT OXBOW PARK this weekend. If you've never been, it is a fun event centered around the Sandy river fall chinook run. There are educational booths, stuff for sale, music, live and dead salmon on display, salmon to eat, etc. and TONS of great stuff for kids.

MY ARM IS TIRED.

Riverkeeper,

Hey, that thing is obviously not fin-clipped. You should have released it - what were you thinking!!!

No clip necessary in the Columbia before they closed it. I think the ocean still required it though.

Nope you can keep native chinook, just not native coho.

In the Sandy, all salmon must be fin clipped

when you drag that thing to Oxbow, your gonna be in a heap of trouble boy!

D, will you ever get over her catching that monster hog at TBay? You know the one recentally featured in STS?

Now you are sinking to taking credit for yet another of her hawgs!

tsk tsk tsk

Also, I don't see a black mouth.

I think it must be a coho!

And it should have been clipped to retain!

Bhhhhhadddd boy!

If it wasn't a color picture I wouldn't have believed it. I really thought it would be a black and white shot

Congrats on landing that bad boy.

PS...How many quarts of eggs were you able to cure?

Well,

Upon further review...

I might be able to make out the slightest bit of black at the tip of the lower gum.

In referencing the Scientific manuals and reviewing the evidence, it appears this fish was a;

OMYKISS PORKOLONIUS A relatively rare form of Portland City Chinook.

And once the cropped nose and tail are added in, I have to admit that perhaps it is, indeed, 35'

I stand corrected.

Nevermind.

Ha!

Notice again that I am holding the fish BEHIND me, so it appears smaller.

Although some friends ridiculed me, I am glad I bought the biggest beckman!

RK,
You must swing one heck of a fish bonker to give that hawg the wood shampoo! Must look like the one that eyeFISH uses!

Holy Cow! I just looked at it again and it looks like it's eating some Portland sidewalk cafe diners! Hit that thing again!

You're going to need a sawmill to fillet that sucker as well!

Once again, the Murphy Jig proves deadly. Nice to finally see you posing with a fish that isn't a Thule.

It has to be a missed clip. That fish has WAY too many anatomical deformities to be a native fish. Either that, or it was hatched somewhere in the Hanford Reach!
