most import things to bring when waterfowl hunting
Just thougt it might be interesting to see what some of us can't live without when waterfowl hunting. Would like to see what others consider necessities.
Excluding license/tags/permits, gun/ammo, dog, cammo, munchies, waders, hats and decoys, here is my list in no particular order: (I'm surely missing something very important)
Small Binoculars
Bird calls
Antiacid
regs
Gloves
Head lamp w/ extra batteries
Sunglasses
Cell Phone
gun oil
Plastic bags
Pen/paper
Bottle of water
TP
Leatherman
Digital camera

Re: most import things to bring when waterfowl hun
Very stong coffee
At a couple of places I hunt, I take my Handheld GPS, and if it turns out to be a good location, it makes it much easier to find in a blizzard when its dark (Wood River).

Re: most import things to bring when waterfowl hun
TUMS!! Lots of them.
After a couple thermo's of coffee, a McDonald susage biscuit breakfast, and southwestern boat omlette after the morning flight..... I'm pretty much a wreak inside. And that's all before my uncle's chili in the afternoon!
I can only imagine what a can of longcut would do to me?!?
Duckintheblood, Don't take this the wrong way but for 20yrs I wouldn't be found far from a can, but giving it up was the best thing I did. Nearly cost me a couple bottom teeth. Still slap my shirt pockets every time I open a can of Coke!
Hows that work with a duck call?

Re: most import things to bring when waterfowl hun
Definitely a pen, Probably out to go stash a few in my duckboat now.... can't tell you how many times my pen has come up missing or failed to work when I shoot some geese.
Any of you guys have this happen: Yo shoot your goose, and go to score it down on your permit card, Next, you take out your wallett and open it to get to your licenses and card, (keep in mind it is blowing 30 mph and there are black sheets of rain coming down sideways) the entire contents of your wallet goes blowing every which way, along with Paper money, Various state Hunting licenses, your or and wa goose cards are stuck together, somehow each has impressed print onto the other so that they are not legible anymore, you go to get your pen (which was in your pocket earlier) but somehow has come out of your pocket and is now in the foot of your chest waders.... so you have to strip off your duck coat and pull off your waders, or try and do a handstand while wearing them so your pen will fall out of your boot.... finally you gather your pen and wallet contents and mark it down and at last, you are legal.... then you find out that your dog has gotten bored during the fiasco and either A.) eaten most of your bird, or B.) Carried the bird off and dropped it somewhere so that you are not able to find it.
Can't wait to get out there!

Re: most import things to bring when waterfowl hun
What to do if you forget the pen?
Several times a very thin stick with the right mixture of mud and water on the end is about all I had. Once I was checked by a cop while using this method...he didn't seem to know the difference  .

Re: most import things to bring when waterfowl hun
I "third" Spooney's humor idea....Also, don't forget the best duck call on the market; drink lots of coffee then say aloud "gotta go take a leak"....works every time! Can I say "leak" here??? "gotta go urinate" isn't quite the say, I think the ducks look at one another and wonder "any idea what urinate means?"...."Can we buzz the decoys?"...

Re: most import things to bring when waterfowl hun
I think a hatchet comes in handy for building and brushing the blinds. Another is face paint if your not into facemasks. Its less than 48 hours to go before its killin' time. Good luck to everyone going east.

Shotgun.
I once took off with a friend early in the morning and didn't realize I forgot my gun until we got to another friends house (4am) I had to borrow his dads 12ga and couldn't hit anything with it.
