After much trepidation on my part, I finally decided I was going to buy and learn how to work a short reed call. I picked up a Saunder's Reload and Dave Smith's Breakthrough II CD. I have heard a lot of good things about Saunder's calls and the Reload was easier for wallet to handle.(read: wife said yes )
I had been blowing a flute for the last 5 years and it took me about 15 minutes to get my first decent honk out of it.(My problem, not Dave's technique i'm sure

) It still takes a couple of tries when I first pick it up, but as I get used to it I am sure that won't be an issue.
I am looking forward to working my way through the rest of the CD and cleaning up the pitch. If any of you guys have any other tips, feel free to share.
