John Day Boat Ramp, 092303

I am going to be launching my new duck boat at the John Day boat ramp this morning, (11am).

I am 'gonna go scout a good duck hunt location with another newbie to the sport.

Any ideas ?

Bring binocs. Go where the ducks are landing. Set up your dekes so they are quick to deploy.

Basic get in get the blocks out and cover the boat ASAP routine. Minimize the disruption to the birds. Then kill them. :smile:

Isn't a long stretch of the CR designated as refuge? Or is that farther west? :whazzup:
I know it's legit to hunt up by Arlington and points east.

1pump- I think he is talking about the JD ramp by Astoria. Lewis n Clark duck hunting. Maybe I am mistaken.

I Was talking about JD near Astoria.

Blue bird day .. water was so calm thought I could walk across it.

We saw alot of ducks and even more geese. I walked some of the Island looking for natural blinds. I love thi state .. Can't wait to get out w/ my son and start this sport !!
