Personally, I would hit the Siletz River from the vicinity of Chinook Bend and below. Very friendly river for you and your boat. Fishing's a bit slow there, but those fish have got to come up river sooner or later. As long as you have the time off 'forced' on you (the rest of us should be so 'unfortunate'), spending it on the river would be high on my list. I'd go with you if I didn't have to head out to pursue those animals with hair.

Eggs have been working best, but some fish are being caught on spinners and kwikfish. Trolling, drifting with the current (moves both ways, depending on the tide) and hog lining all work.

Don't be put off by all the negative reports you read here about the fishing on the Siletz. Plus, think what it would be like if one of those days you're there turns out to be the day a fresh bunch of fish heads upstream. I'd hate to be sitting at home reading about it on ifish, knowing I could have been there.

Good luck.

OdieWon-Thanks for the idea. I am surprised by the views and low response. Anyone else out there have suggestions on where to go?

Thanks

You might want to wait for some rain to fish the Siletz or Trask.

I'd probably head to Tillamook for a first light low tide, bobber fish, then troll the incoming later in the day. There are fish being caught in the Cowlitz.

With the gill nets in the big river (again) it does make it tough.

Check the coyote rock website and you can get a feeling for the fishing lately. I've heard it is crowded, but is also turning out some fish.

Nehalem, Trask and upper T. Bay, Nestucca, Siletz, Alsea, Yaquina, from north to south. Best bet is anybody's guess.

As long as it does not rain, the chinook will stack in tidewater like cordwood. No rain 'til Haloween and you will be able to walk across the tidewater on their backs.

Make sure you have a rod that will handle piggies and a good egg cure.
