Default Which head lamp?

Do you have any recommendations for a headlamp? I'm looking for a bright LED model. What do you use?

I use a Petzl, 3 LED bulbs and 1 flashlight bulb and 4 AA batteries. When using the LED the batteries will last all night and then some. The LED gives out plenty of light but I lose depth perception with it. Walking over rocks and logs can be tricky.

My buddy got a $50 petzyl led/halogen, I got an energizer $14 led/halogen/red led combo at Wallymart. Mine has worked fine, equally as well as his.

I second the Petzl. Mine has the option of one, two or three blue leds on at a time and the option of one incandecent (white light) to see farther distances althought the white light zaps the battery pretty fast. I have used the led's all night for tracking and skinning and the batteries have lasted no problem.

I won a Browning 7 led headlamp at a RMEF banquet. You have the option of using 3,5,or 7 blue leds. I will second the fact that you may lose some depth perception, but they work a long time and can really light up your general area. This one retailed for around $60.

I have one from Black Diamond that has a halogen bulb and one led. THe Led is light enough for most things done around camp at night as well as reading. The halogen is the one that use while hiking and moving through the woods.

Here is a link to REI where I got mine. I have had it for several years and it works well. The batteries last quite a while. I mainly just use the Led while in camp.
