well I actualy made it out for a couple of days that ended up beeing spent with more family then hoped for so that was ok but more fishing less visiting would have been fine with me. we stayed in seaside and fished the nehalem hard. It sucked for us and the other 150 guys with us! we never touched a fish or even thought we would no quik reel downs no nothing of any report. I fished up river from 101 and trolled for an hour or so and mostly bobber fished. for some reason there was not much fish at all up there. I never even saw a fish roll?? very very slow. I heard from a friend of mine that they where very thick in the barn hole and up on sunday/monday but where gone when I got there.
the upside of the trip was the trip back to seaside where I was informed of a sleeper bite so we ended up picking up some fish and the trip was saved. We crabed in seaside like I had asked about a while back and it was ok at best we eneded up catching a million huge females and 6 kepers for 4 pots and about 3 hours
Another thing that was amazing to me was the amount of bait that came in with the tide!! that entire stretch from the 12th street bridge to the ocean is very shallow we had our pots in the deepest water we could find (looked for a 1/2 an hour) and it was all of 6 feet the "channel" was 7. but the sand was very white so we could see the bottom in some locations and the bay was that very lite green yellowy looking but about and hour before the flood it was deep forest green so green that my buddy looked at me and asked if it was grass then we looked around and it was a huge bait ball!! Billions of anchovies

totaly amazing somthing I will never forget. all the way across the river all the way back to the ocean solid bait.
so that was the trip dont waste your time crabbing from a boat in sea side that spot on the north side of the 12th st bridge is 14 feet and the deepest spot in the entire river so stay there
