I have really been wanting to thump a big eastern bull, but my season has been pretty much all suck and I cant get a big bull to talk to me, have not heard a cow so much as chirp once this season.
Down to the last weekend and my buddy and I went to the coast this weekend to hunt something I have a little more experience at since we were raised at the coast. My buddies brother in law came along with us.
We walk in about 2.5 miles and get to a clearcut and see a big bull right off the bat. Tall 6 point, no width but nice height and heavy and dark. He wont even look at us when we bugle

We walk around to the side of the clearcut to get closer and spot a smaller 4 point in the lower part of the cut. My buddy and myself set up about 40 yards apart in the clearcut and the 3rd guy is a couple hundred yards behind us cow calling.
The little bull perks right up when we start cow calling and starts walking our way. In about 20 minutes he came the 200 +/- yards to us. He was going to walk right between me and my buddy if he hung on the same course.

When he is about 40 yards out from me, and 35 yards from my buddy, the bull turns and faces me  I hear my buddy let an arrow fly and the bull turns to walk away. I can see an arrow sticking out the side of the bull. As he slowly walks off I launch an arrow at 50 - 60 yards trying to improve the blood trail

The bull slowly just keeps walking away and my buddy lobs a second arrow and misses like I did
I can see blood coming out the bulls nose, and lots of blood on his neck

I wasnt sure where he was hit at the time but he was bleeding pretty good and I could see that.
The bull slowly walks about 100 yards and goes into the timber. We find our arrows and follow the bull after about 1/2 hour later. We find the bull in the timber about 20 yards dead.
Arrow was stuck in the bulls neck, the broadhead busted off on the threads and was stuck in a vertibrae. Wasnt an ideal shot,

but it did the job pretty effective.
I think we are headed down again tomorrow to see if we do it again.
