Default Springer caught on the Willy

I was at GI Joes this pm and one of the salesmen said a springer had been caught on the Willy. I didn't hear any details. Can anyone verify this ?

If I remember correctly, the first ifisher to report a springer caught last year caught it on January 21.

Was going to get the boat out and go this weekend but decided that 300,000 gallons of raw sewage in the Willamette wasn't what I wanted to fish in ... I'll probably get the boat in for next weekend and start fishing the mouth of the channel, the Sellwood mid Feburary.

Just in time for my reels to get back from Reelmeister Al.

I wonder if a springer will hit the dreaded pink worm? I'm going to find out.

I was down there at fisherman getting some new line when the guy brought in the chinook. I believe he said he got it from the area around that zipperlip park. The one that is north of the mouth the clackamas river.

Borrowed from the Local Fisherman's News:

Several spring chinook salmon have been confirmed landed by anglers fishing off the beach at Prescott Beach, one was a real nice 35-pound fish. Another springer was also caught from the sandy shores of Willow Bar on Saturday, January 24th. On the Willamette River first confirmed springer was caught by a boat angler off Meldrum Bay on Saturday, January 24th. It weighed 25 pounds 10 ounces. Quite a big fish considering they are expecting mostly 3 and 4 year olds this year.
