Default Vernonia Boys blow it

The story I heard was a nice 7-pt. bull was arrowed. Problem was the boys were hunting where they shouldn't be due to fire danger. And to top that off...the bull was in the back of a pickup that evening with the hide still on!! I was told that besides the 4 guys getting 5,000$ fines for criminal trespass...the bull was confiscated and a wanton waste of game animal ticket was given. I didn't see any of this but got the info from a "reliable source". And what really makes me see red is this bull was near where I hunt and might have been the bull that we have been seeing the last couple of years but haven't got a shot at.

fishuntr2-
I saw the bull downtown and heard the same story the next day. I was so mad when I saw the bull whole unskined and rotting away in the back of his pickup I could have spit.
But....I am a believer karma. What goes around comes around. Sounds like in this case it did.

Gota love some of those big city hunters. The sad part is you hears this type of story every year. What a waste.

I "heard" that these were some local boys....One is the nephew of my elk hunting partners boss. It don't matter who did it...It was done illegaly and the animal was wasted. I hope they all get the book thrown at em HARD.

I'm glad they got caught, I've seen a few rigs parked near gates that are closed due to fire danger . It's private land and we all need to respect the closures. It's a real bummer they wasted the meat. Maybe as part of thier punishment they should be forced to eat it anyway . Maybe it will smoke ok  .

yo fishuntr2, do you know whereabouts they were hunting? That's a damn shame their licenses ought to be taken away for a good while.

criminal tresspass is a misdemeanor $371. (10% of $3710.00) and that's the bail not the fine...the fine is rarely more than 100-150 and only if a timber company rep wants to come testify at trial...

NOT JUSTIFICATION JUST CLARIFICATION.

I would have loved to see that bad boy. I have yet to see any elk coming through Vernonia. I cannot fathom why someone would waste that much food. A bull like that would be a once in a lifetime gift for me.

very sad.

Wow! I'm so suprised by this. Not that someone did something like this.....I'm surprised someone actually got a ticket for doing this. This type of crap happens each and every year and most get away with it. I bet these bozo's pay less than half of that fine. This aint the first time these jerks did something like this and it wont be the last. Getting caught just teaches these inbreds to cover their tracks a lot better next time. Now they'll need to poach a few more animals to cover the fine they'll end up paying in 50 dollar installments.

Too many hunters and cases before the judges. Include the fact that the budget problems have left us with a skeleton crew working enforcement and is it any surprise that Oregon world renowned for its poaching problems. It was even before the budget problems began. I think the state of Oregon is a disgrace when it comes to protecting its natural resources from thieves. Too much emphasis on serving the users and too little reguard for the used.

I'd like to see them try it in Alaska. They would get some time in the sing sing I think.
