It has been a little "chili" out for sure. I went over the coast range (HWY 18) Thursday at 5:00am and my pickups outside temp showed 36 degrees.

I've been hunting outside John Day for the last week. This morning the winds and snows hit our camp.
When the generator stopped working, we decided to packed it back into civilization.

Ahhh, that is the exact opposite of what I would have done, then again I don't even use a generator, in fact I am not sure what you would actually use one for, charge my head lamp batteries?
If that was Warner summit then the Pueblos have snow as well. Hmmm, sleeping under the stars with no shelter at the summit may be not an option come Oct 1st.

We camp out of a 25ft Travel Trailer at about 5800 feet elevation. The generator is used to power the trailer so we can use the microwave, TV, DVD player, and also charge the batteries so the propane heater and stove can ignite.
For the last week, nighttime temps have been around 44, today the winds picked up and the made hunting impossible.
Temps dropped down to 37 degrees. Running the heater to keep warm brought the batteries so low, the propane heater couldn't ignite. With a down generator, the trailer became a big tent without any type of heat. We attempted to pick up the weather stations on the radio to determine the storms duration but only got static. So we decided to get out while we could rather than risk getting stuck on a icy road with 8000lbs of trailer attempting to go downhill.
Also, we missed our wives and decided to come back home.
