Re: Please rain.....
I like fishing the Tillamook Rivers so much that a little (but not too much) rain would be welcome.
Enough rain to cause the fish to enter the river tidewater but not enough to let them run upstream. The perfect storm.

Re: Please rain.....
Husker, I'm with you....The rains gonna come. I don't mind if it takes it's own sweet time!! I've lived in the Hillsboro area all of my 45 years and although I LOVE the fall, the rain can wait as far as I'm concerned.
BTW Some of the best tidewater/bay years I've experienced are the ones where we don't get rain till Thanksgiving!!!
Let 'em stack up like cord wood!!!! And don't keep 'em unless they are CHROME!!!

Re: Please rain.....
Sorry, but I want NO rain. The fish will come. After 25 years in tidewater I know the fishing is better without rain. My perfect year is dry till the second week of Oct. lots of fish stack up and fishing is great. Then a quick little shot of rain and all these fish escape up to spawn and then the rest start stacking up. Then no rain till first week of Nov and just pray to be on the river for the next three days. Double digits before you are out of the third hole. Just hope you have ben gay for the arm......

Re: Please rain.....
papa wants to explain his thoughts on rain and tidewater fishing.
I think that a little rain would color the water a bit and allow the fish to find their river and run into tidewater and stack up. Great for the bobber and egg tidewater fisherman.
I would not want to see a bunch of rain that would permit the fish to run upstream. A little rain to excite the fish but not enough rain that the fish could run upstream. Thus the perfect storm.
I would rather see no rain than a lot of rain. In time the fish will find their way into tidewater howbeit a little later.

It's been a long long time since I heard anyone say they didn't want to live in Oregon because it rains to much.

You havent heard that in this thread. Only talking about the conditions ideal for tidewater fishing.
No one wants to leave Oregon because of rain and is still here unless they are in jail.

Re: Please rain.....
I'm with fishbait. No rain is best until later October.
Less rain the better for bay fishing.
They don't need "a taste of rain" to get excited or anything like that. That's just wishful thinking. It's the biological clock that tells the salmon to come into the bay. Rain will only triger a rush if it's a lot of rain but then they blow right through.

Sometimes no reports is good reports.....by the time the reports fly the hot fishing might be over.

Re: Please rain.....
there has been a study flow of fish beeing taken from the upper bay and that only means that there are fish in the tide water already

Steve you crack me up. Maybe you should have two rods/reels...one left-hand and one right so you can switch after every fish.

Re: Please rain.....
Mark,
I do......... Forced to about 7 yrs ago after great season on Columbia. Could not lift a milk container out of the fridge with my right arm. Accupuncture halped the most, had to trade 5 reels for the other side. Actually took about 1.5 years to get comfortable fishing with the other arm. Now I take one of each on most trips and switch either half way through the day or next day. I also exercise my elbow and sholder and have learned to warm them up. It's tough to get old but along with that also comes more double digit days.
