Re: size this antelope
I killed one that scored 82 1/4 after drying.
It was the # 8 killed in Idaho at the time.
I would guess about the same as above 13-14" and 4 inches on the prong. The circ. looks a little thin. High 60's low 70's. Good guess.
My buck had 16 " with 6" prong and 7" circ. at the base.. When I saw him I instantly knew he was the best Pronghorn I'd ever seen. No question about it. The real book boys stand out like a sore thumb. id. painter

Re: size this antelope
Hey BOE
Ears are about 9 inches long cant tell to much about this buck from pic. Ihave four on the wall biggest is 15 1/2 Ears ar a good way to judge lenght.

Re: size this antelope
Well Roy, I've got a 14.5 on the wall. And that one is way bigger. I'd say more like 15.5-16.
I'm not goat expert, but that's a good 'un.
I also saw a big one this weekend, very similar to that one. In the thick timber at about 60 yds.

Re: size this antelope
I'm no expert, but I'd guess he's in the 15" length range. He does not appear to have much for circumference or spread, but nice length. Unless I knew of a specific bigger buck in the area I'd take him and be very happy.

Re: size this antelope
Is that a black helicopter in that third picture?
Those are pretty neat pictures. I'll have to try that one of these days.

Re: size this antelope
Skein - I have been taking pics thru my spotting scope for years and before I had a digital camera that had a screen on the back that showed me what the camera saw I had a lot of black pics.
If the camera isnt straight with the scope you get black, if it isnt the right distance from the scope you get either black or a very small pic in the middle of a black pic. I have had some success but mostly it didnt work out.
I use to have a 35mm that I could hook up to my discoverer spotting scope but I bent one of the connectors and now have egg shaped threads that dont mate up.
These were the first ones I tried with my new digital camera and they all turned out in some sort of quality. The screen on the back is key to getting some sort of pic. I wanted to use more power but the heat waves were terrible when looking at the antelope.
Expect to see more animal pics within a circle of black from me

Re: size this antelope
I would guess he's around 14 1/2-15" in height but lacking in the mass department, so that will hurt his score. Hard to tell about the kickers also from that picture. I'd probably get a closer look at him before I would shoot him but definitely within the range of thinking seriously about filling a tag with.

Re: size this antelope
Now that I am a seasoned goat hunter with a little success under my belt I would say 13 1/2".

Re: size this antelope
Reel Handel is right about using the ears as a judge for length. The gauge I was always taught was that you should assume their ears are approximately eight inches long.
The buck in the photo is fairly long--probably somewhere in the 15" range. He doesn't look to have really exceptional mass, though. I'd say I agree with the 4" prong guess. Overall he'd probably score somewhere in the low 70's.
I saw a buck two years ago in Wyoming that must have been 18" (really small prongs). The thing is, though, they came alomst straight off his head--horizontally. He wasn't in my unit, or I'd have shot him just for the novelty. Really unique head.

Re: size this antelope
I'm with skein, where did you shoot these pics BOE, Area 51? I think it is a UFO, and BOE is trying to cover up... Hey, maybe Roy was meeting up with family and that's he isn't telling what it is? Might explain his vertical limitations, and the webbing between his fingers.
