Yup, my brother had evacuated NO to Houston, hopefully he'll pay attention to mother nature and get the heck back to good old Oregon, where he belongs!!!

Better fill up all the cars and spare gas cans now. If this hit's the Houston are refineries, price of gas will jump up again.

I'll take knowing I have a winter of grey skies and rain every year over not knowing if I'm going to get slammed by one of those storms every summer.

The good news, if there is any, is that people will take the warnings seriously this time, and that we have a little recent experience on what to do.

Pray for all in the path and look for $5 gas.

Just wrote to Bill's cousin who lives in Lake Charles. They are evacuating:

"Headed to Memphis to in-laws. Good B-B-Q this weekend. LC will get lots of rain and 60 mph winds and my inland-raised wife is chicken to stay. "

Lake Charles :depressed: I have some very fond memories of that town. A club called "Rumors" had some of the best local R&B talent I heard while I was there. I will hold out hope that boudin and gator meat will be available again soon.

Seriously, praying that everyone can get out of the way and that losses will be minimal.

Had a conference call yesterday with our server refresh folks - the Manager had relocated to Houston from NO after loosing everything in NO. He was staying with his Brother and now has nowhere to go - told him to point the car towards Oregon - you only have to worry about smokin mountains up here and the odd earthquake. Needless to say the call was interupted by the building intercom advising employees of the shutdown of the building, servers and VMS systems by 2pm yesterday. The call was rather short - I told him we can deal with our issues via e-mail next week - pack up and head north

I just returned yesterday from the Port Arthur Texas area. People down there were really preparing for this storm and making plans to get out. The really sad part is we had just placed about 800 families from Katrina into housing in the area.
