Bowtech is a good bow and especially for that price. Any upper end bow (Hoyt, mathews, bowtech) will shoot very nice. You just have to find the one that fits you the best. There's a reason those are more expensive. Get one that will last a few years also. You'll appreciate the difference from the old one.

If your gonna buy a Bowtech, buy it from Kutch Archery in Yamhill. He will take the time to set up any bow on his wall for you to shoot. although he will be closed from thursday till ...... hunting season ya know. i would call him 852-7537

Probably not what you want to hear, but I'd highly recommend you wait for the new bow until first season is over. If you're hitting your target OK with the old one, tough it out so you can take your time getting used to the new one.

The last place you want to be to find out 'quirks' of your new bow is at full draw on the bull-of-a-lifetime....example...most newer quality bows have a solid wall with a small valley i.e. you creep just a little and it'll wanna yank your arm off. Doesn't take long to get used to it, but like I said, you want to witness this in your backyard, not drawn down on an animal.

If the old bow is hard to pull and hold back, turn her down a smidge. A couple pounds can make a huge difference (assuming it's not a stick bow).

Bows on their last leg are notorious for killing really big animals...I'd give her one more shot! (pun intended)

Default Time for a New Bow?

I know its kind of last-minute for such consideration, but… I really would like a new and better bow. I have an old one that is cheap and hard to pull & hold. I keep wishing it would just break so I could ‘justify’ buying a new one. The problem is that it hits on the mark almost every shot.

I was at Sportsman’s the other day and asked the archery guy what’s the best bow for the buck (no pun intended). He showed me a BowTech package they have for about $450 (TomKat package, maybe?) - needing only to buy arrows and be pretty much good-to-go.

My question to y’all is; what do you think is the best bow value as well as where to find it?

Thanks! RSL
