How to sell a rifle?

I would like to sell my Savage 30-06. What's the best way to go about this? Ideally I'd like to sell it to an ifish member(which I know is something for the classifieds), but I do not know the regulations for a private gun sale in Oregon.

Any advice?

It is illegal to sell it in Oregon for more than $5 so I will be over to get it in a few minutes :tongue:

Really just give the buyer a bill of sale and sell it for what you can get for it and it will be legal

just sell it. I guess a bill of sale and a signed paper with the serial # would be smart, but i always just took the cash and called it done. I sold two this year to finace a new one :shocked: One was sold in the ifish or piscatorial pursuits classifieds, cant remember which one. The add got a LOT emails sent to me, pretty effective advertising here on ifish.

To protect both you and the seller, give him a signed bill of sale with the serial number and have him sign a receipt with the serial number and you keep that permanently.

I am still waiting for advice on how to sell it. I have an old LC Smith 16 gauge side by side shotgun that is a collectable. I have never sold a gun and do not want to deal firearms with people that I do not know. Can anyone recommend a place that would give me a fair price or sell it on consignment? I found a few places on the web but I do not know how to deal with them as they are out of state.
