Today Sucked!
I took the Crackercraft out today with my dad and a friend of mine. We dumped into Chinook Landing about 5:15AM, pulled around the corner and anchored at the line just above the ramp. The current was actually moving upriver and we all held anchor ropes tight with our kickers, occassionally playing bumperboats by twilight. We got to see about 5 fish caught once the tide started rolling out - sometime around 7:15
We got to watch some interesting tempers flare up - people wanting to anchor in the line where there wasn't room. Some guy was teaching his toddler children, who were aboard his boat, how to cuss people out when they don't shear qwuite the way he thinks they should.
We left the river, fishless, at about 3:00PM. Fish checkers said they counted 16 fish for 147 boats.
On to tidewater, tribs, and Bambi bashin'!

Re: Today Sucked!
Thank you for not making me regret doing my brakes instead of fishing today.

Re: Today Sucked!
Good to see you this AM Chroma. Nice to start the day with a laugh and the hope for a chance at getting that "big one". It really was not that different down below where I fished . Atotal of five fish between ten or eleven boats. Up by the Sandy I heard of maybe twelve to seventeen fish for a few hundred boats.
It is amazing to me though that somehow Sixteen thousand fish will be added to the sportfishers take of their quota.
Oh well it fun while it lasted. Till next year.

Fishing for me went from red hot Thursday afternoon to dead yesterday - now I know maybe it wasn't just because I suck!!! At least now I won't be wishing so bad the season had lasted longer. On to Coho for me.

Re: Today Sucked!
My URB season 15 trips two small fish gas $3 a gallon total take 15# of salmon before cleaning probably works out to about $30 a pound what a bargain. Fishing time on the water was priceless met some new people and I look forward to seeing them back out on the water. Sturgeon are just around the corner maybe even a coho trip or two. BCF your were a kick in the pants to fish by this weekend.

Re: Today Sucked!
Too bad the last day of the year for URB's turned out to be a poor day of catching. That really surprises me cause I spent 6 days out of 7 on the water last week for a total of 19 fish to the boat for those trips. I figured the last day would be a blood bath
Oh well, I guess we gotta take it in the shorts once again this year. From the pre mature closeres, restrictions, BS bag limits and so on, I can only imagine the state is trying to turn more and more people away from dumping milions of dollars into the economy next year. All hail the netters Time to take up video games and golf
I sure am glad I spent the last day of the year out in the ocean

Re: Today Sucked!
We were done at 11am. Twin 20lb chrome hens, went 2 for 3. All strikes on a gold/silver Alvin, green dot, with an extender swivel on the hook. 5x6, 10oz, 53 feet of water. (Not that it matters anymore for this year!)
bassin' was next to us, his boat had a coho and a nook when we left, my cousin-in-law was outside of us, his boat was 1 for 3 at the time. A gagillion boats out there, our little line of three was by far the hottest anywhere we could see.
Awesome day on the river, from running in the dark down Scappoose Bay to picking our way upriver in the peanut-butter thick fog to the 45mph run back on glass water.

Re: Today Sucked!
Right back at you Gundog. Was I a masterful Captain or what?
I was like a textbook of how to handle mistakes. It was not my finest hour/day. But it was fun.........to laugh at myself.
Great to meet you Mike.

Re: Today Sucked!
It was good to see you out there as well. BCF! Even though the bite was bad, it was nice to get out with my dad and my buddy.
