Default Heppner Deer Rifle Season

I drew a tag for Heppner this year and I MIGHT be hunting by myself. My hunting partner is a fishing guide and he might have to do some fall fishing that week and satisfy his urge on Blacktails. Anybody else flying solo on this year for this hunt? I havent hunted there in about 6 years but hunted it for deer/elk from 83'-97'. We've shot lots of animals in "our" area so Im pretty familiar with the area.

I don't really like hunting by myself but will if needed. Not looking a a big group, maybe just another person flying solo.

Thanks,

I don't know where "your" area is, but alot of land has been closed off in the last couple of years up there. Kinzua has sold hunting rights to it's lands, land owners are selling hunting rights to thier lands. Even locals are finding it tough to find a place. land around blake ranch has been closed by a local ranch who just bought it for hunting. There's still alot to hunt in heppner, but not as much as a few years ago.

Well aware of the land that has been closed off. Some of the areas we hunted we're affected, but for the most part left untouched by this. I have buddies who still hunt in there for elk and am well aware of the land closures. Hadn't heard of the Blakes Ranch area closure and appreciate that info. I do hunt around in there on occasion. Any info on the exact closure's around the ranch?

Thanks,
Bill

I'm hunting that area too and might be sans a hunting partner. I might be interested as well. Maybe the 3 of us should get together over a malted beverage and discuss things?

I've met ZZZzzzzzz before at the Chirstmas get together, and I wouldn't recommend hunting with him. JUST KIDDING!

If nothing else we could talk scouting (although I'm not headed over for another couple of weeks).

Just a thought....
