Reel Creel: I am bringing my boat down to Illwaco Saturday night. 8 Knots is heading out of CR on Sunday also. Let's hook up and head out together on Sunday morning.

What time are you heading out? Should I contact you on channel 11?

I am going out of Warrenton Sunday on a buddy's 24 Whaler. Haven't pinned down exactly when leaving, but unless the bar is acting up it will be first light. We will most likely head to the spot where Key West got them earlier in the week on Trident. This is 3 to 4 miles from where we got okay #'s of fish two times this summer, so it feels right. Hoping to hear good news tomorrow from the CR boats.

Looks like low tide on Sunday is around 7:30am. I think the earlier we leave the better it will be. I would love to follow you guys out since this is my first time crossing the bar on my own boat.

I'll try to get a hold of you guys on the radio and perhaps we could meet somewhere mid stream.

Dean: If I could make it to Illwaco by the time you leave I might follow you out like last year when I was with Tracker.

Where is the bait dock? Is that in Illwaco?

Are the fish still at 46.10x124.45? How did you do today Dean?

Sorry for asking too many questions

Bait dock is by the fuel dock - on the outside just before leaving the "jaws". Has a yellow flashing light. Opens at 4:30A. Hard to miss.

Fish today at the 46-05 X 124-40. Finished up by around noon (boat full).

Same plan tomorrow - 4:30 at the bait dock.

A request - everyone stopping at the bait dock - please ask them to say open until October!!!

Thanks

Always interested in running for tuna!!

Today's catch - 22 tuna by 9:30A (fish box full, cooler full, and a few on the deck). Stopped at the Halibut hole and put in a limit of 'buts too!!

Great day on the ocean.

Let's start coordinating for next weekend!

Thought I would throw in a few photos (cell phone photos - so low quality) of the CR tuna carnage this weekend (I don't believe the fat lady has sung yet on the season)...

Saturday - 18 fish. The fellow in the pic - his first tuna trip. What a way to start your tuna experience - live baiting.
He was asking himself at the end of the day what he was thinking spending all that time salmon fishing..

Sunday - 22 tuna (by 9:30A), 2 halibut. Wide open bite at the 46-03 X 124-50. Three of us on board - and I don't think there was a time when we DIDN'T have 3 on at once.

Even if we didn't catch a fish - what a day on the big pond!!!

Dean

Sheesh it'd be nice to be young again.
Can't believe Sunday was better fishing for you guys.
your crews got to be animals.

I really wanted to go again, all my crew was too sore and tired. After the butt stop we backed into the slip at 8:00pm
cleaned till 12:00noon today and drove home via Ilwaco.

Live bait it was. We only scratched up four trolling. Better look into a live bait system! What a nice day out. We saw the bait boats doing pretty well ( Key West obviously kicked some hiney ) never saw so many jumpers. Tried casting to them, slow trolling fish traps. Even had one hit a rapala, we were feeling desperate with so many fish showing. Oh well, it was a great day. We watched the sun come up through the fog, the sunset over the bar and the harvest moon come up over Astoria. Nice!

Ive got to say sorry i was not there to go fishing. My wife had a 40th B-day parrty for me.I got home from work and there was forty or fifty people in my house. Sne did a good job keeping it from me. Ed called trying to get tuna #s and when i could not get the #s out of mt gps (from drinking) i had to bag the fishing. And we drank and danced till the we hours of the morring. Ed im sorry that i was no help, id painter i hope you got some fish.

What a party.....

I think that she dose these things to keep from going fishing.

8Kts-Live bait system can be as simple as a 30 gallon can with some holes drilled in it and a bucket. It aint pretty, but it will get it done.

Yeah I kicked myself yesterday for not having a live bait well working on Cindy Lou . Won't go again till I have something rigged up.

Most jumpers I have ever seen out there. Far as I could see there were tuna everywhere.
