Check this out, diesel powered unit for outboard boats.Looks like a way to save on fuel cost.

Had a guy pull up to our dock a couple weeks ago that had an aircraft jet turbine motor!

This thing was complete with all the instrumentation and the driver and passenger had to wear the complete headset communication systems just like pilots wear.

Owner said it wasn't really fast though, only like 60 mph.

Super, duper noisy though. Just like an airplane it cranked over for a while and built up speed and then the big wooshing sound kicked in like he had lit the fires!

And I thought I wasted a lot of money on boats!

Also, last week, a guy named Mike Defreez brought his pickle fork boat to the dock. Apparently last month he set a new ocean speed record over in North Carolina of 161 mph! He actually hit 158 the first day and 163 the second and they take the average of both runs as the record.  I guess he beat the old record by close to 20 miles per hour!
