Default What works better than Goo-Bee Gone?

I used to have some pin striping towards the bottom of the painted stripe on my sled. I peeled the striping, but now I need to remove the remnants...

Goo bee gone works, but the process goes something like this:

Rub on Goo Bee gone...wait...
Scrape with razor blade.
Rub on Goo Bee gone...wait...
Scrape with razor blade.
Rub on Goo Bee gone...wait...
Scrape with razor blade.
Rub on Goo Bee gone...wait...
Wipe off with a rag and alot of elbow grease.

All totaled it took about 15 minutes to do a 1 foot section. Lets see 19 foot sled, two sides, plus the stern at 15 minutes per foot comes out to 675 minutes. Or just over 11 hours.

Surely something works a little easier?

Try 3m adhesive remover..

Its what I used to "debadge" my truck and worked great.
You can get it almost anywhere too

Good luck

A blow dryer or heat gun helps too, but don't use with solvent cleaners.

I used a round rubber wheel on the end of my air drill,it is made for removing pin stripping without harming the paint. It took of all decals and pin striping in no time at all.It should be available at most auto parts stores by you,or a body shop supply store, the disc is about 4 inches in diameter.Hope this helps its the coolest stripper Ive ever used.

I use the 3M adhesive remover, a heat gun, and plastic razor blades for everything. Good stuff, Maynard.
The pinstripe remover wheel that Flyguru described works well, too.

I just removed all the vinyl striping off my 19' Stryker. I bought a can of 3m Adhesive remover, and some Goof Off, as well as a heat gun, and some straight razor blades.

What I found worked best was Patience. I got the striping started, and pulled it VERY SLOWLY, and evenly. I kept the tag ends about a 60 degree angle, kept my hold on 'em short, and just peeled everything back. I put in about 5 hours on one side of the boat on a Saturday, and then another 4 hours to finish it the next day.

After I got it all off, I spent about an hour just wiping it all down with clean rags full of the 3M adhesive remover, and she was good to go. I hate using solvents and be sure you're using a respirator in a well ventilated space if you do use 'em. Volatile Organic Compounds are not something you want in your lungs or your central nervous system. Don't ask me how I know.....

I had both sides "vinyled" a day later, so there's no exposed aluminum, except the bottom (below the chines), and the stern. It's a "one-off" design, and then I had a 9mm 3M ArmorCoat clear layer put over that. It cleans up like a dream, and I'll never have dull aluminum showing again. And NO polishing....

I'm inept at posting pics, but PM me with your email address if you want pics. I couldn't be happier with the results. My 3 year old boat now looks Brand New....
