Had the opportunity to fish with Jeff today and used his expertise and knowledge to chase some steelhead and SRC's. I tried one of Stew's Reverse spiders and connected with a nice 15" SRC.

Later in the day, I connected with a 5# or so steelhead on my spey rod.

Jeff hooked several sea runs and had a sh on for 15 secs or so.

Weather was overcast and cool.

Hey GIZ, I can't say enough to tell you how much fun I had. Although we had to work for the fish we caught, all in all it was a great day of fishing. I hope to get back on the water with you soon. Great pictures by the way....

No, the sh was taken on a red bodied fly.

Jeff's a great guy and if anyone needs some professional help with a trip, give him a try. I don't think you will be disappointed.

Questions about the spider:
Is it weighted? And how exactly do you fish it?

Meskel: I fished the RS casting across and slightly downstream with a 4wt f line. I let the fly swing and mended the fly line. I let it swing in the current for a few seconds before stepping a few feet downstream and recasting.

The fly is unweighted. You can see how it holds in the water in the u/w pict of it above.
