Well, the Domer finally made it happen. I had heard stories of eight bear in four years killed from one stand. I figured, okay. Thats alot of bear. I got the opportunity to hunt with him on his stand. It is a beauty of a spot. Huckleberries galore
Man, I mean everywhere there isn't rhodies, there are berries. I spent a few mornings and evenings on the stand and only saw a few bucks. Not a bad time, and the country is great. Steep, but great.
Now, remember that I am a hoosier. I don't know jack about hunting bear. All I can do is watch and learn.
Well, last night I had a city council meeting and couldn't go hunting. When I get home, the boys (mine and his) run up... Dad!! Dom got a bear. So I went into the house and changed, and we headed up to pack it out. Did I mention this ground is steep?
We came back about 9:30 figuring that it was too risky and we would get it out in the morning. It was gutted and bucked in half so it would cool, so we weren't worried about the meat.
When we started over the edge this morning, we spooked another bear up and off it ran...
We loaded it up, and I got to pack the hinds. Domer got the big 2/3 of it. Here it is afterwards
It weighed about 225 or so, and its pads were bigger than my hands are long. Nice bear, and I can't wait to get up there and get mine. It was a heck of a climb out of that canyon, but it was a blast. the kids waited on the landing for us, and were really excited too. Can't wait for the pepper sticks!!!!!!!!!!
