Default Leader length & line?

Greetings friends
Finally gettin a chance to go fishin this comming weekend with a friend on Siletz. As I have written recently, whether I get a fish or not, I want to do it right. So my question is on a typical river condition like Siletz how would you tackle up? Woule you run a splitter or in line sinker? How long should I make up the leaders for a K-16 wrapped kwik fish? What test line for leader? How far back from the boat should I be trolling? Herring wrap or Sardine? Thanks much to all. This could be the year I actually get one! Or not, who can say? Just want to give it my best. Trying is half the fun right?

(with the help of the cat) would use a 2-3' drop leader6/10# & 4-6' of leader (how clear is the water)20/ 30# depending on what you are after
use a light leader for your weight so it can be replaced if snaged this will save the high $ lure.
are their any Flounder left in the lower river. we fished for them Yearrrrrs ago, for us that don't go out for barn doors need to find a place to get some good eating.

Personally I like a like a long drop on the incoming or slack tide on lower Siletz about 36 inches or so it will save ya some plugs too, on the outgoing mess around with about half that much. And if yer a trollin my K-15's put on a clinic for my 16's, anchored the 16's are fine as long as ya got some red on em! Done well with both herring and sardines, and yer a gonna catch more than one, I'm believin!
Oh yeah 65 inches of litre and don't forget a bead chain around the middle. Now yer set.

The only thing I would add is that I ALWAYS use 40lb leaders. It doesnt matter if I am bobber fishin or back trollin kwiks. I use maxima ug or trilene big game but no less than 40. These fish are not line shy so why risk loosing your prize plug or maybe the only bite of the day???
