Default Alpen scopes

I'm in the market for a new spotting scope andcame across the Alpen brand. Wondering if anybody else has one and what they think of it.I compared the 15-45x60 Alpen to the Wind River Seqoia at Sportsmans and while the WRS was brighter, the Alpen seemed sharper at all mags. I know, both are made in China, but it's whats "affordable". I don't know if I could justify spending more than $300 for something that really won't get much use.

I've got an Alpen 20-60x82mm and it's a decent scope. I need to get a better tripod for it and that might make me a little more comfortable with it. I do wish it was smaller like the Minox 15-45x62mm that I had for 3 months before some crackhead took it off my hands. The Minox was brighter even with the smaller objective.

It was Outdoor Life's best buy last year. Haven't actually seen one in the flesh but on paper it looks great.

Sorry about your ordeal Jberry, I've got the 15-45x60 on order. Wish they made the 80 power in a straight eyepiece. hven't seen many Minox ads, it's amazing what out there.

I bought that 15-45 x 60 with the angled eyepiece (for the wif ) a couple of months ago, prior to our annual trip to Yellowstone. Did what it is supposed to. Even got to do a bit of digiscoping with fine results. I did get one of their window mounts as well; but that leaves a little to be desired.

My Alpen (I mean, my wif's) is now packed and heading to the high desert to find me a sagebrush buck in a couple of days. Hope it still works .

K, ordered and recieved as mentioned. Not really "high quality" but I got more than I paid for. Played with it all day watching kids @ the schoolyard. The brightness was sufficient, and the clarity was comparable to my Pentax binocs.

pervert yes, but not for schoolkids. Besides, staring through the Alpen while daydreaming looks much better than staring through my rifle scopes like I used to
