Default Don\'t laugh! Scat help!

The only way I could tell you how big this poop is, is to put my fingers NEAR it. No! I didn't touch it!!!

Anyway, we have something eating our blackberries, or so it seems. Every day, there is a new batch of this stuff.

If you open it with a stick, there are seeds, but it's all green inside.

Some of it looks like elk to me, but others, not. It's quite large... almost human sized.

Is it a bear? A cougar? An elk?

What eats berries daily, and I don't see it?

Here are some images:

Thanks for your opinion. I appreciate it. This interests me a lot. I go through the woods and find nests, and different kinds of droppings. It's fun for me to know what lives out there!

Looks like a Bull Elk to me , I seen on a hunting show once that the bulls and bucks scat clumps together like that and the does and cows are more like pellets. Never been able to prove that theory though. :depressed:

The Coyotes in our back pasture eat black berries all the time. But their scat don’t look like that. Looks more like elk to me

Get the camcorder and flashlight out tonight.
You got yourself a YETTY in your back yard. They love blackberries. Better get on oregonbigfoot.com and report your findings.
Bigfoot in the Kilchis Canyon. That will keep the trespassers at bay.
Have you been hearing distinct nightly sounds like this....whoooaaa whoaaaa (say in a low scratchy tone) Bigfoot mating call or a very sharp odor....
Time to put a Yetty crossing sign out by the road.

Looks like Elk Jen. Came across several PILES of black bear before and they look like an elephant pile. Large heaping mounds bigger than my size 12 boot.
SHHHHH...Jenny's got ELK. or a large Buck.

Dang. I wanted a bear!!!

It does look like elk. Just an odd place for them to be. They've never hung out there before.

Now I feel like I have Fool's gold. Fool's poop?

Jenny,
With 100% assurance, I can disappoint you and say it's not a bear. Judging from your finger in--I mean near the subject of the picture--it's a blacktail, most likely a buck. Don't know why, but both elk and deer males leave similar scatological remnants
Me thinks it's a nice size deer.

Gus that is 3 on the left with a small eye guard. It looks like the bull walks with a limp on right front foot, possible rose thorn in the hoof.

I dont know why Jen wont touch it, come another few weeks I will be rolling in the fresh stuff when I find it to have the best scent on my person when I am bow hunting. Some people like Gus just naturally smell like that, the rest of us need

Mmmmm, I can just smell the pungent odor of a freshly torn up wallow. Then you breath deeply again and say oh yeah he is close...Remnants of shredded Alder bark hanging from the trees and strewn about on the ground. Time to roll in the mire

Go ahead Jennie touch it, it won't bite. It might be Gazelle poop, but the only way you can tell the difference is a good squeeze. Gazelle is much softer than bull elk poop

Blacktail buck. Check around for tracks. Maybe hose the area to soften the ground and check for tracks in the morning.

Its yetty scat. (Bigfoot)poop. It looks to be a young one though. they like berrys, green bark, grasses, small children, some barn animals. Nothing to worry about until the berry crop drys up and then you know. Well Iam glad i cleared that up for you. Good Luck with your yetty.

WOW! I knew I had a thread on this!

Anyhow, sorry the pics are gone, but now I KNOW I have a bear!
There is a guy here that is taking all of our blackberries out and planting trees for river restoration.

He knows his stuff and he says he's come across alot of bear poop and he KNOWS that it's bear poop.

He showed me! It's just as you guys describe it. Piles of stuff!

So, I want to see him! He says it's fresh.

How do I scout it out to see and take a pic?

Jen

I found the old pics and replaces them. I'll take a pic of the poop (lol) this time, and show you the difference.
