Fishermans has Berkley IM7s in a 7 to 9 ft size rated for 15-50 line. They also have Ambassador 6501-c3s for 54 dollars. GI Joes has the same deal on the reel.

This will allow you to fish for salmon and sturgeon with the same outfit.

There are better (more expensive) units out there but for my money this is the best buy.

For your situation, Abu 5500's or 6500's are definitely your best bet, matched with a rod as mentioned like the Berkley or even look at Okuma Celilos. As for rod rating, it all depends on how heavy you like. Not too much money for either component, but plenty reliable and good first rods and reels.

Good luck!!
