35 inches of coastal chome!!!!! (PICTURES)
I caught a cold, so I slept tdy (1-4-04)in not fishing tell just around noon. I had a great day and was done fishing by 3 oclock! I heard of over 40 fish caught w/ lots of fisherman leavin with limits before I got there in the rain, sleet, and snow in this streach of the river.
The first fish I landed and released on eggs and drift gear after loosing two on shrimp and numerous other rips in the first hole I fished.
The second fish I landed and released on shrimp and a float in the second hole fished.
The third fish landed and kept on shrimp and float, caught in the second hole fished.
The fourth fish landed and kept, caught in the third hole fished and was 35" X 20" and weighed 16 pounds! Was caught on shrimp and float w/ my 1141 IMX 4-8 w/ eight pound test!!!
This fish headed over 100 yards upstream before I landed it. Was caugth in holding water and I was very fortunate that it never made any downstream runs!
After three skunked trips it make me 23 steelhead landed in ten trips to the same river. Not to bad after ten years of not fishing for winter steelhead.

Re: 35 inches of coastal chome!!!!! (PICTURES)
Hey Ty, I really like your photos, but how about reducing them in size a bit?
It's fine if you're viewing them on a 21" flat screen on a fiber lan, but for those poor folks running a 640x480 screen and a modem, you're killing them.
Try something on the lines of 6-7" wide at 72 dpi. Anything more than that for a web page is a waste.
Still, very cool photos...even if if I live in Washington (Seattle) and have no *******' clue as to where you are fishing in Oregon!

Re: 35 inches of coastal chome!!!!! (PICTURES)
How do you catch so many fish??? The fish must like you. It seems like every time you go you catch lots of fish. That third fish looks like it has a hooked nose kind of like a chinook. Great job on the fish

Re: 35 inches of coastal chome!!!!! (PICTURES)
Thanks fer all the great replies guys!
I have been using 10 pound maxima perflexion (= 8# ultra green) and 10 pound maxima clear on my casting rod. These two lines qare making my fishing fabulous! I have varied from these lines and doned poorly. The moral of the story is stick with what workss for you and don't stray from that!

Re: 35 inches of coastal chome!!!!! (PICTURES)
Ty-
Sweet...I wondered why you didn't show. You know how I only wanted to fish a half day? Well, I was done at 8:30 with my 2. I wouldn't have kept #2, but she took it a little deep and was bleeding. A quick day for me and I am glad you made it to the river. Give me a call & I will give you the gory details.

Below is a formula for calculating weights of fish. According to this formula your fish weights 18.06 pounds.
