HELP! Need info on Arizona Unit 6A South/Elk

Apparently I've drawn this tag through a "tag service/outfitter" and I'm a little skeptical. Is this a quality unit or am I paying an outfitter for a dog hunt?

The dates are Sept 12 through 23rd. 1 bull, archery tag. It is near Flagstaff.

I've got a call in to the region 2 elk biologist. As well as a few inquiry e-mails sent off. Any input will be appreciated.

I'm pretty sure the area has fine animals. My hunting partner confirmed he is available to call/video/pack.

Just trying to collect all the info I can. Right now, looks like all my bad luck drawing tags may have been being saved up for this

GRB, you may want to check out the website 'MonsterMuleys'. Similar board to this, with different discussion boards for different topics. Go to the elk hunting section and do a search on your unit. I would guess you could find some info. If not, register and post a question. Seems to be a fairly friendly bunch (of course, not as friendly as the 'ifish' gang :grin: ).

I lived in AZ for 7 years and moveed back "home" 2 years ago. The last year I was in AZ I was fortunate to draw an elk tag (rifle) outside of Flagstaff (southeast). We saw and counted 70 bulls the day before the hunt opened. You may call BS but it is true. I taged a 5X5 by 9:00 AM opening morning. Would I go back? Oh ya!!

Lived in Arizona most of my life dont rememnber the exact area boundries of 6A but around Flagstaff is good used to bowhunt around the Stoneman Lake area, alot of deer and have seen huge herds of elk & Contratulations on the tag, I hunted with a guy who didnt get drawn for 10 years.
