North American Hunting Club?
I recieved a letter in the mail today from the NAHC. It contained a 'trophy buck grazin pack,' which is basically clover and alfalfa seeds. There was also a letter and some other small trinkets. The letter stated that by becoming a member for the low price of $1 a month I get the members only magazine, and I will be sent things like scents, knives, and guns to test out. I get to keep whatever they send me. My question is how did they get my name and address, and if anyone out there is a member, is it all that its cracked up to be?
Thanks Ian

Re: North American Hunting Club?
Winterkill...I get that stuff every year and have yet to join. I don't know anyone who is a member that has ever gotten to test products, but who knows. For $12 maybe the magazine is worth it?
As far as how did they get your name, it could have come from any number of magazine subscriptions, contest entries, etc over the years.

Re: North American Hunting Club?
I am a member and it is a pretty good magazine. It is east biased just like most other hunting mags but it is pretty good. THey don't sell it on newstands, only subscribers.
The product testing is a program that they have which you have to sign up for. They say every 2 years or so they will send you a product from some company for you to test. You have to fill out a reveiw sheet and send it in. The product is yours to keep and could be anything from a $5 bottle of doe pee to a $1000 rifle. They then publish the reveiws in the magazine.
I have been a member for 3 years and havn't gotten to test anything yet.
The magazine itself is good about keeping you up to date on anti-gun/hunting legislation in all 50 states and covers everything hunting related.
The one downfall they have is they send you books and stuff to preveiw and either pay for or return. But that has only happened twice in three years. But you get discounts and swap hunt offers and members only hunts and stuff, mostly east coast but it is there.
Overall I would recommend it for $12 a year.

Re: North American Hunting Club?
I felt I could only belong to a couple of organizations, and that The Oregon Hunters Association and the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, were more in line with protecting the areas and animals that I hunt. Everything else (including hunting shows,) seems to involve whitetails and turkeys. Ducks Unlimited is okay too.

It's just a marketing company, as far as I know they do nothing to promote or protect the sport. I would spend your $12.00 on the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation or some other club that really does somthing for the sport.

Re: North American Hunting Club?
I got the same packet. And I believe that the ODFW sold my address or the visa jerks did. I recently purchased my hunting draw permit choices with my debit, so that is where I believe they recieved it. It better not be the ODFW or I will be very upset. Maybe I will research and see.

Re: North American Hunting Club?
I've been a Life Member for ten years(?) maybe. Never tested anything. Probably because I asked them to quit sending me the tapes and books to check out. I did get a really nice leather jacket for becoming a Life Member. I recall the lady I talked with was quite surprised when I told her that I didn't want the logo on the front of the jacket! The magazine is OK and the swap hunts and some of the other info is interesting.....sal
