Default Wayne Carlton

I stopped by Broken Arrow archery tonight to meet my hunting parter to look at arrows and rest, and ran into Wayne Carlton. He was going to give a speech later in the evening and was just hanging out. We spent an hour talking to him and what a nice guy.

I told him it wasnt necessarily his brand of calls but I have a problem with the reed on some of the calls sticking to the call, expecially the sceery cow call when they get a little moisture on them. He goes over and shows me his new elk call out this year. He had the same problem with his calls and when cleaning the call he used a scotch brite pad and it scuffed up the surface a little and the reed quit sticking to it. So his new call comes with a textured surface next to the reed so it wont stick.

I kind of like the design and he can really make it sing. It was $6.95   which is way cheap for a call.

Of course he then showed me his new diaphram call with the sound chamber on it. It is a little plastic piece that goes up over one side of the latex. Wayne blew his, and of course it sounded pretty good, but I think he could make most anything sound good.

I will be scuffing up my other calls next to the reed so they wont stick and make that sick sheep sound at an inopportune time when wet

I too met Wayne this afternoon at broken arrow. He did seem to be a very nice gentleman. He showed me their new felt shoe covers for stalking. I was late so I didn't get to chat long.

Roy, give me a call if you want to shoot some evening. I've been shooting most evenings.

Ya, I was showed his felt foot coverings also. Looks like they are made pretty well.

His story behind the felt soles was he had a camera man along on a hunt with noisy boots. He tried to put socks over his boots and it worked for a while, so he then took a horse blanket and cut it up and uses some bailing wire and tied it on. It worked so well he now hunts with the felt strapped to his feet.

looked like they might make a nice spot to apply some scent to your body.

Roy,

Please keep buying his calls, maybe he'll quit singing

I just saw him on the outdoor channel, after callin in a bull to a good 30ish yd shot, he called him back again and stuck another arrow in the same bull at about 50 yds. Cool move.

That sounds like a cool trick. I'll have to try that.
