Brad and Dave -"Stripping Down" ?
Hey Guys,
I finally got to sit down last night and watch Cochran & Smith's new goose hunting video "Stripping Down". (I've finally recovered from my grieving, after not being able to attend the Waterfowl Festival) Nice job Brad & Dave !Great technical tips as well as alot of straight goose killin'. The IFISH Hunt made the highlight reel as well. What a time that was ! As soon as the new regulations come out for 2003-2004, we need to set the date of the 2nd annual IFISH Hunt. Start looking at your calendar. I think we need to look at having a get together the night before or after so we can spend time talking hunting, calling, decoys etc. as well as if we get enough interest, making it a two day event ! I already can't wait for September Goose !

Re: Brad and Dave -"Stripping Down" ?
Yes! Absolutely! But not as much as the ducks and upland game! I won't be physically in Oregon until August 16th as the house I just bought will not be vacant until then. (I'm still in Virginia) I have, however, managed to acquire a place to hunt geese in Oregon and I look forward to shooting a few. Back here we have a lot of geese. I mean a whole lot of geese. So the ducks and other bird hunting will be a welcomed change of pace.
Here's my last hunt of last year after a surprise snowstorm. I had to improvise and use some old towels to help with the camo. It worked.

Re: Brad and Dave -"Stripping Down" ?
Darn right, I'm excited. I need to get that video, especially after spending all weekend extolling the virtues of Cochran and Smith to anyone who would listen. My brother is pumped to rent 'em for a hunt, even though I told him it would ruin him for listening to me honk and splat on my old flute. I want him to see first-hand what I've been saying about these guys.
My only delimma is how to work it all in - fall salmon fishing, upland birds, September geese, deer and elk season... Whew!
But I'll try.

Re: Brad and Dave -"Stripping Down" ?
Thank God I finally heard from some of you guys! Baitbucket: Remember we have about a 6 month season on geese here ! I was starting to get worried about our IFISH goose slayers. Anybody up for a two day IFISH hunt with Brad & Dave ?

Re: Brad and Dave -"Stripping Down" ?
I talked to Dave last fall when I first started looking for a house. I told him then that I would hunt with him. Once we get the seasons established, I will definitely put it on my calendar.

Re: Brad and Dave -"Stripping Down" ?
I talked to Dave at the Waterfowl festival and he mentioned maybe setting up a hunt earlier in the season too.I'm torn between getting some of the new Hardcore lessers or a hunt like this.Thinks I could plead insanity with the better half? She's already oking me having the pup with a pro and even getting back into trialing.Too many choices. So I'll try to do them all of course.
ps Does anybody have a spare room just in case?

Re: Brad and Dave -"Stripping Down" ?
Count me in!! Mid December - Mid February would be ideal for me.
Having to move decoys out of the garage & into the new pole barn has me thinking I need more shelving units.
Looking forward to the upcoming seasons.

Re: Brad and Dave -"Stripping Down" ?
A two day'er? I dunno. If I come home to my dog two days in a row with goose feathers stuck to me, without taking her along, I'm afraid she'll take me to the vet and get me tutored. I have to sneak the shotgun out to the truck just to get a one-day.
It ain't just getting into geese - it's watchin' the pup work that gets me out before daybreak to go lay in the mud. I understand why Brad and Dave can't have everybody bringing their dogs, but you guys know where I'm coming from on this.

Re: Brad and Dave -"Stripping Down" ?
Labsforme you have to do both. I just told my wife when I was standing next to Corey at the show and she just shook her head. And then I won that nat gear parka and it fits her. Now I have to buy her a new shotgun and bibs. The way I look at it if I am always in the dog house I now where I stand and those four dozen hardcore lessers are going to be deadly.

Re: Brad and Dave -"Stripping Down" ?
I'd be interested also depending on the dates. I'm hard to pull away from bugling bulls at that time of year but I'm usually game for busting some honkers. Keep me posted on the dog thing also. Everytime I leave without him and come back with a bird he does something naughty to the house. Half the reason I hunt is to watch him, but if it's on someone elses land I can understand.

Re: Brad and Dave -"Stripping Down" ?
Ahhh, Goose season laying in the mud, praying for rain, packing a couple hundred pounds of gear out into a field.. That being said I can't wait. Quoting a grear outdoor writer "fine and pleasant misery" Wouldn't have it any other way.
Steeliehunter,
We should try and hunt together this year. I think one of the fields should have some early season birds on it.

Re: Brad and Dave -"Stripping Down" ?
Ryan there are wheat fields every where and lots of birds along the river. I am working on even more proerty for this season so I will have plenty of options.

Re: Brad and Dave -"Stripping Down" ?
Thanks for the comments guys!!
We're gonna put together another video in Alberta this fall where we'll be hunting over 200+ Dave Smith canadas and specks. We'll be rolling 3 cameras including a helmet cam so it should be an awesome video! We also plan on doing an even better video from our Oregon season and would love to get some more action from the ifish hunt! The season's just around the corner, I can't wait!
