hey I will be in seaside in a couple of weeks and my sister asked if I could bringoa and take them crabbing so where can I launch and crab? I have seen guys doing it but is it any good out there? I know on a low tide it is very low so should I head out and just find a channel and crab it? any info on an area to start the hunt and a place to launch would be very helpfull.
does anyone know when they are re opening the clamming for razors in the seaside gearheart area yet??
thanks for all the help and P/M's are always apreciated  I hope i am not stealing anyones secret stash of crabs

As a kid I build a small car topper and rowed all over the estuary. Incoming tide (top 2 to 3 hrs) from the high school out till you can see the breakers in the deeper water was usualy pretty good. Even at high water there are a lot of high sand bars and the closer to the ocean you get the more large snags (tree stumps) you'll encounter. This is a small boat estuary, anything over about 16' is going to get stuck, it's all sand though so if you go slow you won't break anything. oh yeah take lots of bait and check traps often, there are tons of smalls and females. good luck and have fun!
You can crab right off the last bridge to the north. I don't know the name of the street. My brother has done pretty good off there. Yes they do catch crabs at that secret spot! Pat

12th Ave bridge... I used to crab off it as a kid.

I just called my sister down there. I talked to one of her girls. So with that said. She said if your on 101 coming into seaside from portland. Take a left at first light. She said it's avenue u. The golf course is on the left. She said there is a grocery store down the road on the right. Take a rt on the road before the store. Go down the road several blocks and there is a boat lauch down there. She didn't know the names of the road or how far down. I hope that helps.
