Default Pigeon problems

Guys I need some advice. Pigeons are invading my space. I have had it with these pigeons. I can't shoot them with a shotgun or 22's because where I live. I have tried plinking them with a pellet gun. But I can't keep up with them. Do any of you have a design on building a pigeon trap or have made one? If so let me know. It would be easy to knock em down with a 20 ga. but the neighbors would have me arrested. Oh, I've tried the fake owls. It did work for awhile but THEY'RE BACK!!!!!!

I've built pigeon traps. Seems like you'll catch a few but not nearly all. Wire cages with wire doors not unlike crab trap doors and grain poured around. It helped to leave 1 or 2 birds in the trap for "decoys".

I recommend a Sheridan Blue Streak with 15 pumps, a 5mm pellet and a 2 power scope.

You'll find if you whack a couple, the rest will leave.

I have a high end .177 cal rifle, the ones that go like 1200 fps. I'd sell it if you're interested.

DAB, can't elimnate the problem. Old lady down the street seems to like feeding all kinds of birds and the pigeons are freeloaders. She won't stop.
Tulley, I'll give you a call
Gun,Rod, Bow. Thanks, may try and make a small trap and load it with feed and water.

Have seen some fishing docks that nail some pointed end nails where seagulls land. Might work for you.

When we were in school at UW, my buddy Ifish lurker OlyDrifter had a '66 Chevy Suburban/Carryall...we called it a "Crummy". It was in good shape and had just been repainted. OlyDrifter parked it beneath the Alaska Way Viaduct in Seattle one afternoon...and when he came back later he noticed a bunch of pigeons sitting 20' above on the girders...and they had crapped all over his shiny red truck.

There was a piece of 1" pipe 18" long lying nearby so Oly, in a rage, threw the pipe up at the pigeons. He missed...but then the pipe bounced back down and smashed his windshield really good.

Moral: Before you launch projectiles at pigeons, think about what could happen if you miss.

They are easier to catch if you get them drunk first. Take a 1 qt. mason jar 1/2 full of oats or other grain from the feed store and pour in a pint of everclear (grain alcohol) and soak 24-48 hours with the lid on. Mix that with unadulterated grain about 1:1. Spread it out shortly before their usual arrival time on a cool day (morning?) and keep watch. When you notice them acting funny,... Falling over etc. just go pick them up and put them in a burlap bag.
When they sober up they are still good for training dogs!

When I was younger I used to tack medium to large rat traps up high. Pack the joy button with the irresistable gooey center of wonder bread, set it........clean it.
