Went out to fish the mouth of the cowlitz last night, so I did a little trolling before the girlfriend got off work. Picked her up and headed down river to the mouth. Anchored up and saw a few fish caught, but none for us. Decided to call it a day, started the motor, pulled anchor and headed upstream. Engine started sputtering and died. Fired it back up, only to have it die again. Then nothing. Went up front to check the tank and wouldn't you know it, out of gas! First time for everything I guess! Drifted by a couple of boats just as a guy hooks up a dark nook and the folks next to him say they'll tow me back up to gearhart in about 20 mins. Waited for the guy to finish fighting his fish then dropped anchor next to a North River who was nice offered a tow to the Raineer launch and then a run up to the ramp at gearhart to pick up the truck. Ended up turning out just fine and thanked the guys for the tow. Next time I'll be a little more careful to check the tank before leaving the launch!
Lesson learned.
