Default Boykin Spaniel

Does anyone on here have any experience with the boykin spaniel? I see them at the sportsman show every year and they seem like they might be good for upland bird hunting and maybe even a little duck hunting.

My lab is 8 years old now. I am thinking about getting a smaller dog in the future and I may consider the boykin. My dog is a male black lab and he is hard to take on the boat when my wife and I go fishing. I think a smaller dog would be a little easier to take with us on the boat.

So, if anyone has any experiences with a Boykin or heard good or bad things about them, I would be interested in hearing about it.

Default Re: Boykin Spaniel

I've heard that they're great dogs, good flushers and better than satisfactory in a duck blind. I doubt if they can handle the extreme weather a lab or Chessie can take in stride, but we seldom get that around here.

There are a couple guys posting on the Refuge Forums gun dog forum that are very enthusiastic about their Boykins. You might get in touch with them for some input.

Do a search on this link and you'll find some info: http://refugeforums.com/refuge/forum...ba61&forumid=9

Here's another link as well: www.boykinspaniel.org

good luck....Mike
