Default Dose anyone elss do this?

What do you do with your tag line after you cut.How short do you cut them? I always cut mine about 1/2 inch long and then I use a lighter and burn or melt it off. I use a small pair of neddle nose pliers next to the knot as a heat sink so as not to burn or weaken the main line.

Nope I sure don't. I cut mine off pretty close and leave it.

Depends on whhere the tag line is or how I am fishing. By the hook or lure, I cut it short. If I am using an inline swivel, I leave them about an inch long-helps catch weeks and debris keeping them off the lure or bait. If I am drift fishing, at the swivel I leave them about three inches long so I can crimp hollow core lead on them-beats using rubber tubing or anything else for drift fishing (unless I am using slinkys).

For all of my braided lines, I tie a double palomar, then put an overhand knot in the tag as close as I can to the palomar. I used to burn the tag end but the overhand accomplishes the same thing: preventing the line from sliding through the palomar knot (which I've never had happen but why take the chance).

For mono, a quarter inch tag is all I leave and I don't do anything special with it. Since I use a slider for drift fishing, I carry a small spool of spare line to use for my slider/crimp area. If I cut my leader short and have a lot of tag left, I'll use that for my weight dropper.

I have mono or fluorocarbon topshots on all of my Spectra loaded reels, 10'-100yds depending on what I'm fishing for.
On line lower than 50lb I tie the topshot on with a double uni and cut the tag ends short. On 50lb and higher I use a knotless leader.

I like to use a topshot that is lighter than the Spectra so when I hang up the mono breaks first and I don't leave the floating and slow to deteriorate Spectra around to cause problems with prop seals and wildlife.
