Pan Fry...as northriver1 pointed out,yes you accumulate one preference point for each year that you don't draw your FIRST hunt choice.
So if you are "lucky" enough to get your second choice, you get another point and you still get to go hunting.
In years where you know that you won't be able to hunt during your preferred choice, you can also apply for a Point Saver. A Point Saver allows you to earn another preference point, without the possibility of drawing. That way you don't risk getting drawn (loosing your preference points) and then not being able to go. You can apply for a point saver in almost any of the hunt series, but you can only apply once every other year for the same hunt series (ex: deer). You can also apply for more than one hunt series (100,200, 400) with point savers in the same year.
