Default White River Unit 141

Anyone have any experience out there? This will be my first year not hunting Blacktail's, so hopefully I made the right choice in going semi-eastern..

WHite river is a lot like hunting the west side depending on where your at. Pretty brushy, I would say the deer lean more towards a blacktail activity than a mulie. Most a Bench legs (cross breads) if not full blacktail. I have hunted that area a few times and it is tough huntin but there are some nice bucks in there.

Don't know what part of the unit we will be in. My father-in law's buddy hunts up there with a big group 8-10 and they always get their deer. They are going to give us some suggestions then we will go scout it out before the season...

I haven't ever been there, but wanted to try something new after being disappointed lately in the blacktail seasons.

A couple years back I saw two racks in the back of a truck that were ******* unreal. One was 30+ and heavy, the other was a big 4 also. Both came from that unit. I remember one of the hunters mentioning that it was really brushy but man those bucks were HUGE!!!

I use to hunt Whiteriver years ago, yes there are some pretty nice deer in there. take hiway 26 on the way to mapuin turn left at the Bear creek Ranger station. follow that down andit will take you to the rim of whithriver canyon. hunt that eather way. havent been there for years, but scout it out. you dont want to go into a new area without scoutting it out anyway. a good friend of mine told me bout it. he took some real nice Mule deer out of there, and two 6 and 7 pts Elk out of there. he now is a guide for brown bear in Alaska.this is the only area i know of cause i hunted it one year.I was and still am hunting the Mt Washington wilderness. which i think is better for me anyway. i am more use to it.
