A proud day (pics)
I finally got the chance to take out fishing one of the best guy's I know.......... MY DAD.....along with my 11yo nephew Ricky. Neither one of them had ever caught a salmon before. I have been very fortunate to learn the URB fishery and have been doing "OK" as of late
To make a short story long they were able to come up from Salem for a quick 3 hour tour Thing s had been pretty quiet for the day when all the sudden one of the rods goes off... First one to get the rod is Ricky, "Hang on TIGHT buddy" I tell him as he begins his first battle with MR. SpottyTail And wouldnt you know it while we were realing up our rods mine gets Hammered and now I have a fish on OK folks we now have a double and I have 2 folks that dont know the routine Another short story long we landed both the fish and only had to fish about another 30 min for our boat limit.
I cant explain how exciting it is to finally watch and help my DAD catch his first salmon Did I mention it was also entertaining None the less I am very proud of both of them today as they did very well for there first time. Dad.....Ricky.... Thanks for the memories guys
Rainrshine

Re: A proud day (pics)
Your dad and an 11 year old nephew. You are a good man, my friend. I don't have the slightest idea who you are, nor do I recognize the gentlemen in the pictures, but I like your whole family.
I think the reason I am getting so choked up by the recent "took dad fishing" posts is because my dad is coming down this weekend for a week of salmon. He's 80 years old, and I know that any season could be the last he is able to go.
I just wish everyone with similar stories would put "Dad" in the thread title so I don't miss reading any of them.
Thank you for a great finish to the day.
