Default Newbie

Glad to join such a great site! I've been watching for about a year now, finally decided to jump in!! Slowly getting used to Portland after a move from the east (La Grande, born and raised). A few of my stats: Male, 31 years old, married 7 years, have two boys (2 1/2 and 5 mos). Steelhead is my favorite prey: 72 trips last year, 69 fish. I'm a creature of habit: fish spinners exclusively (red #4 Blue Fox with brass blade, or #3 all black), except for a couple of fly fishing trips to the Deschutes in August. The rivers I fish: Grande Ronde, Imnaha, Wallowa, Minam and Deschutes in the east, and so far only the North Fork Nehalem and Sandy on the west side. Hopefully that will change soon as I learn my way around. The picture (if I can get it to upload) is from a fish last Tuesday on the North Fork (thanks to Brian?? for the help). Caught him in the tail-out at the waterfall just below the hatchery. I'm also a hunter: Deer and Elk, to this point east side only. If you are planning a trip that way let me know and I might trade some local hot spots (you'll have to beg and plead). Keep On Fishin, Neil

Fast Water;
The numbers are inflated from two twelve fish days at Rondowa (confluence of the Wallowa and Grande Ronde). If the water is just right there is a great slot next to a pillar on the bridge and the fish stack up there. I'll post a story in the morning, if that's the ritual.

For my fish story all I can say is that risking life and limb driving the icy roads to the Kilchis today was well worth it :grin: We slayed 'em. The egg cure we were using can be found in HustlerJims egg cure post.

Welcome aboard, I`m new here too. This is a great sight. I`m sure you will get alot of enjoyment out of Ifish, I know do. You sure left a sweet area for hunting. I bet you got an elk or two over there. I used to hunt the Chesnimnus unit. Great place for elk over there.
