Well, I figure I have been "Lurkin" long enough so here goes with an introduction.
My name is Brett Fair and I live in the Peoples Republic of Eugene. I was turned on to IFish by Salty Walty around May of this year and have been "Lurkin" ever since. I was able to follow Salty Walty out on Saturday and devirginize (is that a word?)my boat and three aboard on halibut. It was a great day with fish and beautiful weather. Thanks Walter.
I also met Crit'r Git'r and Hanapa'a Time at the Florence launch on Friday. Nice meeting you guys.

I understand that a fish story is customary, so here is how mine goes...

I was salmon fishing earlier this year with my father in law out of Florence. We had been trolling for about 2 hours when the downrigger released and we had a fish on. I picked up the rod and started bringing him in. I asked my father in law to bring up the downrigger on his side, but I quess he didn't hear me. The fish went over to his side and hit the dowrigger cable breaking the line(so I thought). I was somewhat PO'd as this was the first fish in my new boat. I again asked him to bring up the downrigger and he did. He then said there was a fish on the downrigger cable. I didn't believe him. I looked over the side and sure enough there was a fish on it. Somehow the snap which was attached to the flasher must of hit the cable and attached itself. The snap was still shut as if I had attached it myself. I grabbed the net and we boated a 17 pound Chinook. My father in law took credit for catching the fish and still thinks he was the savior.

I have appreciated all of the information I have received while "lurkin" here and look forward to contributing something in the future.

Thanks to all,
Brett

The things that happen out there are just amazing. Last year while out for tuna, I was just hooking up a line to a release when a tuna hit. As the line was jerked from my hand it wrapped around the downrigger pole that I was using for outriggers. Snap! Well the pole next in line went off shortly after that and again fish on. As it turned out the fish on that pole was the same fish from the one that broke off. The line had traveled back and tied a nice not on the clone behind it. We got the fish and the clone that had broke off. Amazing!!!!

Welcome aboard! I can’t believe you joined after meeting Walter. He’s about the crankiest guy I’ve ever met.

Just kidding Walter. Over the years your one of the nicest guys I have met from Ifish.
